Lynsay Sands always writes good and funny books. Most of them make me cry from laughing so hard
Apr 2, 2008
Sands has a knack for humor in her writing. I nearly split a gut a couple of times reading her books - this was no exception. She has a funny bone she shares. I love it. In fact, the humor leaves enough in the stories and the reader wanting more that one forgets there is little suspense in the book. These are pure period romances with small plot twists of murder to add to the story - but not full on suspense novels. Still, good. Two people could hate no one else more. Don't know each other at all - but hate with passion what they know of each other. Neighbors battling for years put to an end by the king upon ordering their marriage. She is a nag and he appears a horrible man (torturing his people). They meet and sparks fly. She is bent to LOOK like she is going along - all the while scheming and torturing him into calling off the marriage. He catches the plot and fights back. They fall for each other due to circumstances keep tossing them together - forcing the match. In the meantime, he is nearly killed several times. This is the twist - who would want him dead. It seems apparent and it is not who one is led to believe. Even so, it is readily apparent who the real murderer is after the second attempt. You will have to read to see who it is and what all happens (I won't ruin it) and how these two make it through the mire of her disgusting attempts to turn this man off. They are the true story and it is funny as heck.
