Not necessarily as easy a read as proclaimed. In fact, it reads more like a textbook than normal popular science books.
Dawkins is one of the anti-intelligent design authorities, there is no doubt but his writing is filled with details that the average reader (like me) might find a little inaccessible. I like Science for Dummies-type books and this is not the book.
On the other hand, his powers of persuasion are tremendous. No stone is unturned, and he refutes the most outspoken critics of evolution with the precision of a carving knife.
