A romantic journey

by AnnieLou on Oct 1, 2009

What an amazing account of the times of the artists, writers and other interesting persons of the Taos art colony in the twenties, thirties and forties ! Don't miss this autobiographical acct. by Mabel, herself, socialite, dreamer and protagonist for progress in her time ! Her intimate relationship with her Indian husband, her community endeavors and her unique personality all revealed ! A wonderful and spell binding book !

Evocative picture of life in Taos

by CedarCrestStudio on Apr 1, 2007

If you live New Mexico, and if you are particularly captivated by Taos and the famous and interesting people that have lived and still choose to live there, you should enjoy this book. Mabel Dodge Luhan's descriptions are really evocative of the spirit of the place and make you ready to load the car and head back out to Taos yet again. If you have ever visited or stayed at the Mabel Dodge Luhan House as a guest the book will be even more interesting, as many notes are made describing life in her adobe home, and you can feel the place in the descriptions, especially if you have padded down the wood and stone hallways where D.H Lawrence, Georgia O'Keeffe and many other fascinating characters have trod before you.
