Heroine is Hero...

by cmstavenwise on Jan 12, 2008

I may intrepret different than other readers. However, I find that this story is truly the Heroine's. She is the presence throughout, even while the "hero's" story is unfolding. She is a pawn in a plot to protect someone. Even when she discovers this, she remains undeterred, silent and moves forward remaining for that protection. Pulling the hero from the depths of possible death, she orchestrates the story unwittingly. Ultimately, she discovers the truth, although it shows throughout the story with naggling tidbits she cannot piece together immediately. Steadfast, she remains and the protectee is undoubtedly supposed to be the Hero. Ultimately, upon final pages, I believe you will also conclude that she was the Hero througout (while the Hero comes to the same conclusion). This is a single read (it is that interesting and good). I recommend a second look on a rainy night also. Companion stories are available about the mysterious "The Man" also. You will want to read his story that also brings about another story later. Another read you will want to make as well. One read, you will be addicted to Howard's writing prowess.
