Reviews of Bird by Bird: Some Instructions on Writing and Life

Overall customer rating: 4.250

All the information that young writers need to hear is packed into this one, short, enormously witty book! Anne Lamott delivers much-needed advice, practice, and motivation to beginning writers, bored writers, depressed writers, uninterested writers (and pretty much every other kind too!) in a way that is entertaining and much easier to understand than your average English textbook. In addition, it lives up to the second part of the title, "Some Instructions On Writing and Life" by also applying said encouragement and wisdom to life with an abundance of funny and touching examples.

we had to get this as a textbook for art school, my daughter likes it , the book has some humor to it but as normal most textbooks are a pain to read

How to Write by a Great Writer!

My suggestion: read Traveling Mercies first, so that you can know who Anne Lamott is. But even if you don't, this is a very good book about writing. She tells you how to do suggestions and of course, by EXAMPLE...her own!
