What a great, great book. Whatever your opinion of Forrest Carter as a person may be, he wrote truly profound books.
In his account of Geronimo's life story, Carter conveys extreme empathy for the tragedy inflicted on the native people of the United States. Movingly beautiful and sometimes humorous, artfully and masterfully written, it completely absorbs the reader and leaves a lasting impression. One of my two absolute favorite books, both written by this author. Read it.

The Truth about Geronimo
Many myths surrounding the legend of Geronimo and the demise of the Apache lands are dispelled by Forest Carter. The years of hopeless struggle against enslavement or extermination expose a different feeling from the indian perspective. Carter only wrote 3 books, "Gone to Texas" which is Josey Wales, being his biggest seller (also a great read). If you're interested in Native Americans this book is for you.
