Uncle John uncovers the truth behind some of history's most persistent myths, flushes out information you were never taught in school, and gives history fans something they can really digest. Since 1987, the Bathroom Readers' Institute has led the movement to stand up for those who sit down and read in the bathroom (and everywhere else for that matter). With more than 11 million books in print, the "Uncle John's Bathroom Reader" series is the longest-running, most popular series of its kind in the world. Where else could you learn about the 10 most forgotten people in history, mistakes that led to great discoveries, and how a fish had a hand (er, fin) in beating Napoleon? Uncle John rules the world of information and humor, so get ready to be thoroughly entertained. Read all about... The short history of underwear Odd deaths of famous figures Abe Lincoln, fashion icon The real Lady Godiva Royal inbreeds and promiscuous popes The true story of Braveheart And much more!Read Less
I bought this book a while back and I must say I was not pleased. I really thought that this book was going to at least make me laugh but instead it left me confused. I didn't think that the "History" part was so accurate either. I have heard that "Uncle John's" other books are better but after reading this one, I'm not so interested in reading the others. Some people might like this type of book but it is not for me. I don't recommend anyone wasting their time or money on this read.

Don't make this the first Bathroom Reader you buy
While I enjoy the Bathroom Reader series, this particular edition is not among my favorites. It lacks the variety of information and humor contained in the other volumes from Uncle John. This book focuses exclusively on trivia with historical content. I can only give it 3 stars because it is not as entertaining as a typical Bathroom Reader. I buy Bathroom Readers because they contain a collection of short entertaining factoids that peak my interest or make me laugh. This book reads more like a reference book. Unfortunately, it cannot be used as a reference because it lacks an index and bibliography.
