Clean except for a line of toning at the bottom of the two-page spread frontis, some toning around the margins, a few light and scattered pressed-leaf stains, pencil marks on two pages, and prior owners' names pencilled at the front free endpaper and final endpaper; binding is secure, both end-bands solid, full leather cover modestly surface-rubbed with a little heavier scuffing at the free corners, joints, and spine ends, with three free corners showing exposed board corners; the leather remains soft and supple, copiously decorated with gilt illustrations and titles at front, rear, and spine, deep embossing at front and rear; overall a lovely copy, appropriate for a gift or for a beloved personal library. iii, 112; 84; 90; v, 139; vi, 100 pp. plus Gray's "Elegy" with multiple illustrators; all page edges gilded; note that the first book contains engravings and exposition of religious emblems.
