My experience with this book was overwhelmingly positive. When I began to read it, I had to struggle against my desire to abandon my other demands on my time so as to spend all my time poring over this text. Sheed opens up topics which are often difficult (at best) to discuss in an intelligible fashion and writes on then with such clarity and eloquence that it is truly an educational joy to read. If you have ever wondered: why the Catholic Church exists; why the Catholic Church maintains what she maintains; why the words theology and sanity can be linked together, then please do yourself a favor and read this book. If you are a Catholic who finds him/herself in the dark about his/her own professed faith, then you should most assuredly pick up this book - you will not be disappointed. Though I deeply cherish my copy of this book, I also believe in its merits well enough to have lent it to two of my friends already - although I have been anxious for its safe return.
