Black and white portrait frontispiece and 64 photographic plates. An excellent copy in a slightly with minor nicks and chips at head and tail of spine panel and corners. First edition, first impression. Presentation copy inscribed by Coward to prima ballerina Ninette de Valois on the front free endpaper. De Valois was Coward's contemporary at the the Lila Field Academy, a dance school in London, which they both attended as teenagers. In 1927 she appeared in Coward's Pretty Prattle, a cabaret scene, which was performed at a charity gala. In her second career as a choreographer she founded the Sadler's Wells Opera Ballet and the company which would become the Royal Ballet.
