Slightly Biased and Idealistic

by spain on Sep 3, 2010

The situations given in this book portray an ideal classroom where all the students are involved in their own learning and really truly want to be in the classroom. They even discuss listening activities students can do at home - this is unrealistic. The authors also treat their theories as law. They make it seem like no other theories that exist have any merit. It did, however, make me realize a few things about the way I teach. I realized that my tests don't always echo what we've been doing in class and that isn't really fair to the kids. It gives a lot of food for thought with its "pause to consider" sections. Overall, it's a decent book.
