If you have never watched this TV series from BBC you can get the feel of this marvelous man's work, as an Englishman and a famous veterinarian. Victorian age and Yorkshire, England. Map of Herriot County. I can't say enough of a book like this, at this price and you can have it within 3-5 days with Priority shipping or ten days to UK. Now...there is a to/from in front endpaper and an address label on back inside cover...that is it as far as foreign objects. There is a 4-page index and a half page acknowledgements page. This book will fit nicely in a padded envelope to anywhere in the world...Now. the dust jacket. This is just one of those books (IMO) when the dust jacket is put on. It misses the whole point of the SELF-COVER but I will mail the worn/torn dust jacket and yet it certainly did it's job by protecting this cover. Note: Stated on d.j. that at the time of the publication of this book, James Herriot still continued to work as a practicing vet surgeon. The spine is gray with gold and bright and shinny and will make all your other books pale in comparison. But do note again, a to/from in front endpaper in handwriting from Christmas 1987 from Lydia...
