Get Alterman. Get wise!

Anybody ought to read this book who has got the hots for George Will or Charles Krauthammer or any of the other neo-conservative wiseguys who pretend to know all about everything and couch every subject in terms of its relationship to one or another political ideology. Too bad: most such people do not read books like 'Sound and Fury,' which explains why they put so much faith in George Will or Charles Krauthammer or any of the other neoconservative wiseguys. . . . Eric Alterman has built a decent career largely on the strength of this book, and it is a mighty strong book indeed. If you want the inside story on beltway pundits, it's in here, it's readable, it's honestly skeptical and it's more than a bit of fun. Highly recommended to journalists and journalism students and newsreaders of every stripe.
