Rosie's secret is that today she is not Rosie, today she is Alinda, the lovely lady singer and together with her friend Kathy, alias Cha-Charoo the Arabian dancing girl, they put on a great musical show for Dolly, Pudgy and Sal. Until, that is, they are interrupted by Lenny who today is a fireman and they all dash off to help him put out fires. Soon there is another sign on Rosie's door which leads the gang to her front steps where they all sit quietly waiting for the Magic Man, who is coming to tell them what to do. When he finally arrives he tells them all to be firecrackers , so they Boom and Whizz and Fizz until it is time to go home for tea.

Gift inscription on front endpaper, very faint stain along fore edges of endpapers, otherwise near fine in very good to near fine, bright blue pictorial dust jacket with few tiny rubbed nicks, light soiling on back of front flap and few inconspicuous tears.
Maurice Sendak. Near Fine in Very Good+ jacket. Signed by Author Circa 1970's printing based on info on DJ endflaps. Light rubs at corners and lower edge of rear board. DJ with rubs at edges, a 1/2 inch tear at top of front panel and a tiny chip at lower edge of rear panel. No price on DJ, DJ corners intact. DJ in plastic cover. Signed by Maurice Sendak wth date "Sept-'90" on the half-title page. Illus. in black, blue and rose. One of Sendak's first books which he both wrote and illustrated.
