The late Alfred Young's book developed from his William & Mary Quarterly article is tremendous. That article was selected as one of the Quarterly's best articles for 50 yrs. In this treatment he expands what his research found about the reliability of using first hand accounts of history that previous scholars dismissed as being unreliable...person too old to remember correctly, etc. This shoemaker's account is the first mention or labeling of the Boston's tea dumping as the "Boston Tea Party!"
