This is one of those great books that is marketed towards children, but is incredibly satisfying to read as an adult. Shade's Children is a post-apocalyptic vision of a world where all children must die on their 14th birthday. It's a great read, the sort of book that stimulates you as much as it stimulates the child you are reading it to. It's a wonderful book: smart, funny, scary. The ending is pitch perfect. Good work, Mr. Nix.

Again, excellence

I picked this book up not expecting it to be good. I had read about this book and it didn't make it sound was I wrong! This was an amazing book! Again, Garth Nix suprised me by how interesting of a book he can write about a completly different subject than the books I had read before. I haveto admitt it wasn't as good as the Abhorsen trilogy, but still an excellent read. Pick it up and read it if you get the chance!
