This book tells of the selfish gene. A world of savage competition, ruthless exploitation, and deceit. But what of the acts of apparent altruism in nature the bees who commit suicide when they sting to protect the hive, for example? The only thing worse than a preacher riding a hobby horse is a scientist trying to shoot the preacher's pony out from under him. I can almost excuse a Christian's lack of objectivity, because spirituality is such a subjective matter. However, when an evolutionist starts preaching, I have to ask,- why are you so concerned with winning this argument? Increasing the polarity that already exists between religion and science is so Eighteenth Century. Ketchup, Mr. Dawkins.
