Terrific info for first-time or long-time quilters
Although I have been sewing and doing embroidery since I was quite young, I am relatively new to the art of quilting. Recently, I bought a subscription to a block-of-the-month from my local quilt shop that involves Italian (Florentine) Renaissance motifs appliqued onto a black background. LOTS of curves! MORE than a lot of points! Since my former experience with applique was sewing the stems onto Autumn Leaves blocks and the octagon "snowballs" of an antique quilt top to its new borders, I soon realized that perhaps I had bitten off more than I might be able to sew. THE QUILTER'S ULTIMATE VISUAL GUIDE has turned out to be a Godsend, as it has several well-illustrated sections regarding several types of applique, and how to accomplish turned-under edges that lie neatly and do not bleed threads. Beyond the applique, it is just a terrific book to look through, to get ideas for projects, and to feel that you, the reader, can actually accomplish quilting techniques that you will be proud to leave behind to your descendents.

I love this book. I kept renewing if from the library for months until they wouldn't let me anymore. So, I bought it at very good price and now I keep loosing it,because I carry it all over the house. I have also bought one for a friend and she loves it too. It explains things very well and "pictures " say a thousand words . buy it.
