My doctor recommended I read the book and try to follow it to help me stop the heartburn I get. Do not know if it will help or not, but I will try.

This book was one of the first steps to changed and improved health for me. I always thought I was eating healthy because I was nearly vegetarian, but craved sweets and was tired to boot. Though it is an older book, the same thread of the dangers of syndrome X and pre diabetes runs through it. You will learn how a higher protein/lower carb diet can help you lose weight and improve many chronic conditions of ageing. The initial strict plan is too hard for some, but the general gist of the book about reducing carbs and getting adequate protein is a no brainer.There is info about an intermediate, less strict plan and one for maintenance. Protein Power is easy to read and backs up its claims with medical studies. It includes some recipes, and recommendations for supplementation.
