This is one of the classic treatments of the Biblical prophets. It deals with the prophetic perception and presents chapters on the particular prophets. The insights are some that are not found elsewhere.

A book for someone in Divinity School
Not a book for general information on the lives of trhe Prophets which is what I was looking for. It is sort of a mixture of theosophy, philosophy, ethics and theological in- depth study .....more a book for someone in Divinity School. My customer rating and whether I would recommend to a friend depends on what the friend was looking for and what the intended purpose of the book was for that person. It is not easy reading.

A Timeless Classic on Prophets
I have used Heschel in class for more than 20 years. He is clear, insightful, and refreshing because of his rational approach to a very controversial issue: prophets, their message, and their relationship to G*d. Possibly the best rationale for a personal G*d presented in the genre of prophets and their message. I would recommend this work to all who desire a serious study of the Hebrew prophets.
