Pcikett's Charged Examined

The author correctly points out that Pickett's Charge and its effect have been incorrectly hyped in history. It was not the biggest charge in numbers, nor was it even remembered correctly afterward. Sometimes memories were clouded, other accounts were distorted. The author does a good job placing Pickett and the battle at Gettysburg in its correct historical context.

Why they did what they did...

The author brings into clear focus the before, during and after effects of the third day of the Gettysburg battle charge. I very much enjoyed a clearer understanding of that horrible event that ended in failure for so many and marked the beginning of the end for the southern cause. It was interesting to read comments and attitudes of Gettysburg battle veterans years after the event too.
