As the first in a great series, Outlander embodies not only great writing, but historical accuracy...a rare combination. As you read the series you become invested in the characters and what is happening in their lives. A more than enjoyable read and one of those books it's hard to put down.
This is my 3rd time reading this series. (Sometimes having memory problems is a blessing.) This is the first series I have read that made me laugh out loud, cry real tears, and get goose bumps, over and over. Diana Gabaldon has written a 'not to be missed' collection. I would recommend it to anyone who likes romance, adventure, time travel, Scotland, history, humor, and a real 'page turner' of a series.
I've read this book many times and still enjoy it each and every time. Gabaldon is a master of history and romance. I like her earthy-ness and straightforward dialogue. I have all her books and this is the first one that set me on her journey. Enjoy.
