Hailed as "extraordinary" (NEW YORK TIMES) when it debuted, the ATLAS OF THE WORLD has now undergone its most significant revision ever, with sixteen added pages of world maps. In addition, the index has been updated, the thematic section includes the latest statistical information, and five maps of Europe are derived from a digital database. 4-color maps throughout.
Paying less than $3.00 for this, I expected a mis-used book in tatters. What a pleasant surprise. The atlas is in mint condition, used only "in-house" at a school library. I realized why the postage was costly when I first held it. Huge and heavy. The maps are detailed and large, and the book contains many pages of world facts. Highly recommended.

Excellent European Atlas
The atlas was written by europeans and does not give good inofrmation on the individual USA states. For the rest of the world it is very good.

What a Bargain
I bought a used library copy of this atlas and it is great. It is one of those huge books in the reference section of the library. It had maps of every thing imaginable. We love to travel and this is a great resource to have at home to chart our travels. The packaging was damaged during shipping so it took a really long time to arrive. It's a really heavy book and it was shipped in a thin cardboard envelope, but the book was unharmed.

Very usefull atlas
Atlas of the World by Oxford University Press is a great opportunity for adults and children to find out more about our home - Earth. Special maps and diagramms are great. I reccomed this book for every family.
Publishers Weekly, 2002-12-01 The latest revision of Oxford's highly acclaimed Atlas of the World is as up-to-date as can be in the post-September 11 world. "Site of former World Trade Center" says one caption on an updated map of lower Manhattan- and Baghdad has been added to the 67 maps of major cities around the world, including Moscow, Lisbon and Jerusalem. Statistics on the U.S. have been updated from the 2000 Census, and a new Gazetteer of Nations offers easy reference. But the heart, and strength, of this atlas remains the hundreds of colorful, beautifully detailed maps, conveying not only topographical features but also disputed boundaries, railways and principal roads. This is an indispensable reference for students as well as anyone interested in the state of the world, from population statistics to the environment and our impact on it. It will provide hours of happy, fascinating browsing. (Dec.) (c) Copyright PWxyz, LLC. All rights reserved
