Interesting Geology for the middle of Calif.

by Jo Anna R on Aug 26, 2010

The author mainly covers the geology of the middle of California primarily (think San Francisco to Nevada border. I was more interested in the Southern California geology, so this did not hit the mark. This is an interesting book and well written and the geology of California is fascinating. Jo Anna

Interesting Geology

by Marilyn F on Aug 12, 2010

As usual, John McPhee writes about earth sciences in a very interesting and understandable fashion. His descriptions and language usage are entertaining. I really enjoyed reading this book on the geological history of California and San Francisco. It was not a dry science book, but a story of his travels with a geologist stopping to look at many different evidences of earthquake activity that grew the mountains and created the valleys. I recommend this book to anyone interested in earth sciences.
