Arrogant Writing

by SensitiveMusicGuy on Oct 21, 2010

This author, seemingly, is trying to display his "elevated" intellect using inappropriately complex diction and vocabulary rather than convey knowledge upon the reader through COMMUNICATION. An enduring proportion of the text discusses the complex political climate and structure of 18th century Europe. Not bad in and of itself, but maps and a charts would have been beneficial to organize the data and display the lineage of all the players. His ponderous descriptions of Mozart's music are that of a faux music critic: boring, ineffectual, and pedantic. There is a lot of information and it is perhaps my desire to learn that holds my interest. But, I look forward to reading another biography on Mozart that is more concerned with illuminating the life of composer and his works than with displaying a self-glorifying, faux-intellectual, faux-aristocratic, and condescending air. I would hate to take a class from this guy.
