The Sixth Edition has been extensively revised and updated with the latest research in the field of cell biology, and it provides an exceptional framework for teaching and learning. The entire illustration program has been greatly enhanced.Protein structures better illustrate structure-function relationships, icons are simpler and more consistent within and between chapters, and micrographs have been refreshed and updated with newer, clearer, or better images. As a new feature, each chapter now contains intriguing openended questions highlighting What We Don't Know, introducing students to challenging areas of future research.Updated end-of-chapter problems reflect new research discussed in the text, and these problems have been expanded to all chapters by adding questions on developmental biology, tissues and stem cells, pathogens, and the immune system.Read Less

The Third Edition also extensively updates coverage of immunology and cancer, and adds two new chapters that examine recombinant DNA techniques and proteins as machines.
I bought this book because I am taking an online course from MIT via edX.org, and it was recommended by Professor Eric Lander, who is teaching Introduction to Biology--The Secret of Life,
It is an excellent book, and I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in genomics and molecular biology. The exposition is clear, and the illustrations are both voluminous and of high quality. I expect to have it as a reference for a long time in the future.

The description was true to reality; book was in fantastic, beautiful shape. Price was significantly lower than that which I would have paid a college bookstore, THANKFULLY.
Shipping was prompt, and packaging was nicely done. I would definitely purchase from this seller in the future.
