A Beautiful Place to Be

by sd6161 on Jun 8, 2008

Miss Rumphius, written and illustrated by Barbara Cooney, is an enchanting story for children ages 3 to 8 years old. The tale encompasses the life of a girl through childhood into old age. It captures both attention and imagination as the reader journeys along with Miss Rumphis as she travels the world and makes a home for herself by the sea. The message thoughtfully portrayed in this story is that of her Grandfather's instruction that she must also strive to make the world a more beautiful place. Although it takes many years to know what her legacy will be, the story places great emphasis on the ways in which children can participate to make the world a more beautiful place.
