This book has some reproductions that one doesn't see in most books on Beckmann. Most importantly the book gives us an understanding of Beckmann seen through the eyes of Sister Wendy Beckett. Her art history work is always extremely rich. This is a very small book with an intense study of the artist. I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in German Expressionism, portraiture, or "Degenerate Art" in Nazi Germany. The book is a must have for an art lover.
