This FINE condition hardback would have been rated NEW, but for slight wrinkling at the head/heel. Text block as NEW and appears to be UNUSED-has new book look & feel. Dust jacket NOT price clipped. Photograph is SPECIFIC to this listing. Hardback, printed cover on cloth, dust jacket not price clipped, small tears closed w/acid-free tape. Very few copies are available that are nearly NEW and marked FIRST EDITION. If the dust jacket were nearly NEW, the price would be considerably higher. So, as shown in the photograph, this is a fantastic, cost effective way to have this classic and fine book for the serious cook and/or cookbook collector. Library of Congress Number: 61-12331. Interestingly enough, this is the same number assigned to the First Volume that Julia Child authored.
Very Good + No Jacket. First edition stated, with author's note dated August 1961, hardcover, very light bumps to spine ends, slight lean, touch of soiling to covers, stray pencil mark to for-edge, otherwise bright and clean, a VG+ copy without dustjacket.
Good. First edition, second printing. In Good+ condition, with signs of age and some use in the kitchen. Pages are toned, with some pencil markings, bumped corners and occasional staining. Cloth shows edge wear, soiling, darkening to the spine and wear at the spine ends. First edition, second printing.
Good; Collectible. SIGNED by author, inscribed "Bon Appetit to Dennis from Julia via Albert 4/VIII/72." Later printing (1971). Some staining on closed page edge and splash on 2-3 interior pages. Binding is strong and square with small tears on top and bottom spine edges. Sun fade to spine. Decorative boards otherwise in very good condition. Jacket has much edge wear with some tears and small chipping. Price-clipped. Now in mylar. Fast shipping.
Very Good. First edition, twenty-fourth printing. Signed by Julia Child on the title page. In Very Good condition. Light creasing to page corners, rippling to a few pages, light sporadic stains. Front hinge starting at top. Ding to top edge of front board. Cloth lightly soiled. Spine darkened, and lightly worn at edges. A very lovely copy, signed by the author.
Good. 1961 First edition first printing (no statement of printing, August 1961 to rear note) missing the jacket, ink to flyleaf, faint moisture stain bottom edge and sunfaded spine. Tight binding text unmarked. Please email for photos.
Very Good. First edition, first printing. Lacking the dust jacket. Very Good. Pages are clean, but show bumping to the bottom corners, as does the rear board as if this book was once dropped on it's corner. Spotting to side edge of page block, light fading to topstain and sunning to spine. Soiling to top edge of boards. Overall, a nice copy.

Julia Child Rocks!
I had to get this early edition book after reading Julia Child's "My Life in France" in which she explains how this "cookery book" came to being. This tome uses precise language yet it retains all of Julia's wit and charm. As a reference, it is very user friendly and unintimidating because Julia is there guiding every step. It is not just a cook book but a piece of culinary history.
