With many photos dating from 1904-1915, this book is among Wallace Nutting's best of the States Beautiful. Forget the text - all the States Beautiful series have more or less empty palavering. The photos are the thing.
A number of scenes have dramatically changed since the time the photographs were taken, including many of the ones along the Mohawk Trail, old Route 20, and, of course, scenes in Boston suburbs and areas now victims of urban sprawl.
When you can, buy this in the original printing from Old America Company (1923). I don't know the quality of the recent print-on-demand versions and can't speak for them, but among the dead tree versions, the original editions have the sharpest and best reproductions. Nutting was a quality control taskmaster. Of course, damaged, foxed or totally browned copies are to be avoided.
