No joke: you CAN cook on your car engine! The authors include exhaustive diagrams of different car engines and food placement spots. The recipes include drive time (75 miles for veal scallopini) and great instructions on pre-trip prep.
I bought this book 15 years ago and tried the recipes in a '78 Plymouth Volare. I successfully made roast chicken, stewed chicken, pot roast, and beef stew. I used their methods and my own recipes, and during long drives I had wonderful meals.
Even if you don't plan to cook on your car engine I highly recommend this book as a novelty addition to your cookbook library.
