If you want an introduction to emotion as a theoretical phenomenon then start reading appendix a. Then continue with the book from page 3. Hochschild together with Stephen Fineman's Emotion in Organization shuold be the most important part of the theory on most business administration programmes. Waste of time and money when you read most management magazines.
