Early edition of this attempt to present an evolutionary counterpart to the Old Testament, drawing heavily on Icelandic sagas and mythology. The Danish author--awarded the Nobel Prize in 1944--presents the journey of mankind from the baboon stage to the discovery of the New World as a constant striving by the expansion of peoples out of the Scandinavian North. A third volume carrying the saga up through Christopher Columbus, appears to have not been issued by McKinlay, Stone & MacKenzie.
