Great Deal

by Louise H on Jul 4, 2013

The book I ordered was in great condition and was a bigger bargain than I hoped for. As always, it shipped fast. It arrived in plenty of time for my opening class date. Thanks again Alibris for a job well done.

Archaeology Introduction

by nethphp on Jan 18, 2009

If you aim for a good resource and introduction book prior to embarking in archaeological studies this is probably the number 1 candidate. It is up to date with the latest developments in archaeological theory, method and practice and covers all the important areas of the discipline. The book is divided in 14 parts. The first is a brief history of archaeology and the second a sort of general introduction to the aims and scope of it. Part 3 to 11 explain methodological and practical approaches to a variety of issues in archaeology pertaining both to the natural and human environment, thus introducing the reader to the general framework of archaeological thinking. Part 12 is a quick and very useful review of recent developments (last century) in theoretical approaches in archaeology and parts 13-14 contain some example case studies and explain the relationship between archaeology and the public. Overall it is a very useful and very handy book to keep in your library, as it is also a very good reference source with enough, yet not exhaustive, bibliography on each subject covered in the book. It is highly recommended to everybody.

Excellent primer

by anthrocake on Apr 4, 2007

I purchased this book on the recommendatino of my professor when I enrolled in a high-level seminar course in archaeological theory and found I was in over my head on the basics. It's clear and accessible, but not without theoretical depth. If you are looking for a great primer, this is it.
