Show synopsis This illustrated study of the rabbit is part of the "Life cycle" series and traces each stage of its life including mating, feeding and the development of the young. The book begins with a detailed description of the rabbit, going on to discuss the burrows and warrens that they live in and how they make their homes. Reproduction and care of the young are covered as well as the dangers that rabbits face, both young and adult, in the forms of disease, predators and man. This is followed by an explantion of the development of young rabbits and the different varieties that exist. The book ends with a section about caring for pet rabbits, explaining their diet and how best to look after them. The book is designed to be used in a number of ways; young readers can follow a text specially written in large type, or simply "read" the pictures as the "story" is read to them; older children can read the more detailed smaller type. The text is complemented by a further reading list, glossary and index.
