Simon C. Smith's well-researched work based upon empirical documents provides a good explination of Great Britian's relationship with Kuwait in the decade and a half before independence in addition to the crucial few years after liberation. GB's relationship with Kuwait was different from it's relations with the Shaikhdoms of the Lower Gulf. Anyone wishing to know why this was so and to what affect would do well to read this book.
