In the late 1980s Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia began to experience the trend toward economic liberalization and political democratization. Analyzing developments from the perspectives of political culture and political economy, this work offers an analysis of the interaction of politics, the economy, and Islam in Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia.
