Good. No dust jacket. Ex-library. xiii, 464 p. plates, ports., facsims. 22 cm. Includes: Portraits, Plates, Facsimiles. "Early reviews of books by Emily Dickinson, 1890-1896": p. 406-411. Very Good in Good-DJ: Book shows indications of careful use: light wear to the extremities, with a tiny, heavily scuffed spot at the bottom of the front hinge; slight spine lean; former owner's gift inscription at the front free endpaper; some rather faint soiling to the top and bottom edges. The binding remains quite secure; text clean. The DJ shows fairly heavy wear; some loss to chipping and rubbing at extremities; moderate soiling; the price is intact; mylar-protected. Overall, remains structurally sound and tightly bound, showing moderate wear in a somewhat tatty DJ. NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. 8vo. 464pp. Deckle Fore-Edge. Third Edition. Hardback with DJ. For anyone with more than a passing interest in Emily Dickinson's literary debut. this book is essential. Of course, the author is loyal to her mother, Mabel Loomis Todd, and tells the story from her mother's point of view. You may require additional reading to fill in the full picture, although Bingham does try to be fair to Susan Dickinson who was the first person Lavinia Dickinson approached to edit Emily's poems.
