This is the most comprehensive, detailed and entertaining narrative history of the East India Company to have been written, claimed the publishers of this handsome book. A substantial volume of 475 pages including index, it is bound in brown hard covers with gilt lettering on spine. It has a section of 11 black and white illustrations plus six line-drawn maps. There is some faint creasing to the spine, such as is often seen with modern bindings and a small dust-marked area on the bottom edge of the pages-otherwise this is a sound, clean and bright copy in non price-clipped dustwrapper. The attractive, colourful wrapper showing a 1732 painting of the Bombay waterfront has a bit of edgewear-otherwise it too is in excellent condition for its age. It is now protected by a clear conservation sleeve. This book is heavy and extra postage may be needed.
