She smelled it, fresh death. Both metallic and fruity. Easing the door all the way open, she found it ...It's Christmas-time in New York City, but homicide lieutenant Eve Dallas struggles to get into the holiday spirit. Finding a woman strangled to death by a murderous Santa doesn't help. And he's left behind a present: a partridge in a pear tree, pinned to the victim's hair. With a creeping dread, Eve watches the bodies mount and realises the key - the killer is counting down the twelve days to Christmas. And there is only one connection. The victims had been using the same dating service. Eve enters a dark world where searching for The One is fraught with terror, leaving her racing to find the murderer, as things get much too close to home. Robb does it again
The JD Robb "In Death" stories always begin with a bang!! They pull you in from the first sentence. Who can resist the scruffy Eve Dallas, now married to be Ultra smooth multi Billionaire, Roarke?? They are so much the opposite on the exterior, but so very alike on their interiors. Having dated a man from Northern Ireland, I find a great deal of truth in the reactions Nora Roberts, writing as JD Robb paints for her mysterious main character. The fury often seen behind the cool blue eyes, the glorious mane of black silky hair....no wonder all women in the book melt and see him as an Adonis of the flesh. Pick up the book, the pages fly, the time flies and suddenly your heart sinks because you have finished the story....ON TO THE NEXT of the series I say!!!!

Read the Book
A must to read. Lt Eve Dallas gets involved in her investigations
Publishers Weekly, 1998-05-04 The year is 2058. Guns are banned and medical science has learned how to prolong life to well beyond the century mark. And man has yet to stop killing man. At Cop Central, it's Lieutenant Eve Dallas's job to stand up for the dead. So begins the seventh riveting installment in Robb's (aka Nora Roberts) futuristic romantic suspense series (following Vengeance in Death). With Christmas only weeks away, Eve is stressing out trying to find the right gift for her new husband, Rourke, who "not only had everything, but owned most of the plants and factories that made it." More to her concern is the latest serial killer who is using "The Twelve Days of Christmas" as a theme for his heinous rape and murder spree. The case touches Eve on a personal level, and while flash-backs from her abusive childhood are flinchingly repetitious, it defines Eve's gritty, hard-boiled character and validates her obsessive determination to bring down the killer any way she can.
