He is a haunting figure, a loner, on a spellbinding journey into good and evil, in a desolate world which frighteningly echoes our own. In his first step towards the powerful and mysterious Dark Tower, Roland encounters an alluring woman named Alice, begins a friendship with Jake, a kid from New York, and faces an agonising choice between damnation and salvation as he pursues the Man in Black. Both grippingly realistic and eerily dreamlike, THE GUNSLINGER leaves readers eagerly awaiting the next chapter. And the Tower is closer...Hide synopsis

The plain paper jacket has some light edgewear, just a bit of chipping at the base of the spine. The jacket is first state with the 20.00/60.00 pricing. Pretty nice copy with a rough jacket. This book is great for anyone with an apreciation for fantasy, western or typicall Stephen king style. The Gunslinger is only a mere introduction to the amazing adventures of Roland the Gunslinger and those he meets along the way on his quest for the Dark Tower. You will have more fun with this book if you pay attention to the little things such as songs (for example) that link Roland's world to our own. My best suggestion is that if you buy this book be prepared with the second Dark Tower book "The Drawing of Three" close at hand to avoid frustration.
It was 1970 when Stephen King, at his final year of university, received a gift: a stack of coloured paper. I have read this and reread this before the sequels were released, It is definitely Sci Fi with a Little Western and just a dash of modern. The Mind of Stephen King is definely a very deranged one but he is one of my Fav Writers . I really enjoyed this book and it kept me longing to find out what was going to happen next.
