Challenge of a Seeing Eye
Luci Shaw is one of my favorite authors. She not only notices the small things, she presents them with phrases, and turn of word which often stop me in my tracks. In The Green Earth she explores creation with the gift of wonder. In so doing, she leads the reader to that same gift, and challenges the mind to see beyond the big, splashy thing down to the beauty of the smallest moss frond.
She was accused by one of her students as seeing too much; I believe in that seeing, she opens the reader's eyes to notice all of creation in a fresh way.
