A picture in time

by Miranda77 on Mar 7, 2008

I loved this book, even though it isn't my usual type of read. I really enjoyed the way it captured the mood of the time period, which is during WWII, when the children were being sent out of London to stay in the countryside because it was safer. It tells the story of William, who is one of those children; and Mr. Tom, the man who he is sent to stay with. A sad book, it still has a message of hope with it's story of unlikely friendships, picturesque settings, and the realities of loss.

Excellent story

A very uplifting story of life and love between people during extremely difficult circumstances of wartime. Recommend it for those who are ready for the true hardships of being terribly mistreated and then rescued as internal agreement takes place, that life can turn wonderfully to the good as one keeps on. I would recommend parental perusal before children under twelve read this book.
