Show synopsis The language acquisition on A level courses tends to be of a fairly general nature. Students taking French as an elective on any business related course need some assistance in bridging the gap between general usage of this language and the vocationally specific use required to operate effectively and efficiently in their chosen field of study. Their interest in the language is practical rather than purely linguistic and they need to be able to see how it can be of use to their main field of study. "French for Business Studies" successfully manages to combine the business and grammatical aspects they require. The book is structured around 10 units, each based on a particular theme. The units: start with an overview of the broad topic area; examine in more detail a contemporary issue related to the topic; deal with a key area of grammar relating to language used in the foregoing text; and focus on business language skills related to the topic. The book contains a useful combination of general and business language skills, provides students with the necessary communicative skills to be able to cope in French business environment and gives an introduction to the business and economics environment in France. It should help students make the transition from language learning in school to studying a language as part of a business-related course. Complementary audio cassettes available.
