Slight yellowing to endpapers, spine a little shaken, top corner of textblock bumped, a little light scuffing and faint spotting to top edge, corners of boards slightly bumped, else a clean and solid copy of this scarce book. Color pictorial DJ has 1" x 3/4" chip leading from top of spine to spine-side edge of front cover, creasing to top right corner of front cover, 2" x 2" diagonal chip from bottom leading edge corner of rear cover, crease across bottom quarter of rear cover. 3/4" chip and 1" closed tear to top edge of rear cover, chip to bottom corner of front cover, crease to edges of inner flaps. Illustrated dust jacket, unclipped; 3cm area of loss to front lower edge, minor creases to front and rear panel, corners show small chips. A clean copy; brightly illustrated. Rare monograph of French artist Frans Post, who travelled to Brazil in the 17th century and painted the plantations and their society. Eric L. Harvie's personal copy with his bookplate on front pastedown. Eric L. Harvie was the founder of the Glenbow Museum in Calgary, Alberta. Scarce as printed; previous owner makes this copy even more unique. Preface by Jacques Lavalleye.
