The Fourth Hand holds up well

The theme seems to run central to John Irving's writings, but there is a underlying force that pushes the main character forward towards a place that speaks of normalacy and a promise of a life worth living among the chaos that he has experienced throughout his life. Uses subtle suspense and tension to bring closure.
