First edition. Hardcover. First printing. A classic book in which Least Heat Moon relates his travels across America using only the smaller blue highways. A tight very good plus copy with some soiling to the top edge in a very good dust jacket with a number of small edge tears and chips and minor wear. A presentable copy of this important book.
Very Good in Very Good jacket. 8vo-over 7¾"-9¾" tall. Light staining to fore edges of pages; spine rippled slightly. Dustjacket is clipped with some light edgewear and a little rippling to the spine panel to match book.
Uncorrected proof. pp (xii), 367, perfect bound, in cream card covers printed in black. In the proof dust jacket. Book is fine. The proof jacket (flaps & rear panel blank) is somewhat used, owing to being taller than the proof. There are short creased tears along the top edge, and a large "Y" shaped creased tear to upper front panel internally repaired with paper archival tape. The front panel is centered properly, causing the too-large spine to be off center when folded on to the proof. Still, a complete clean example. Front cover gives publication date as 14 Jan., 1983 (16.95), while first page indicates Feb. publication. The acclaimed best-selling first book, a travelogue, by this American Indian author, in a very scarce advance format.
