This was a great book, featuring four generations of women and showing how the choices of one affected the others.
It examined the differences between German Protestant and Irish Catholic immigrant lifestyles, pacifist and patriotic views of WW1, WW2, and Vietnam, wife abuse, single motherhood and prohibition.
They gave enough clues so I could figure out the secret, and all the loose ends were tied up.
Mrs. Austin writes with humour and sensitivity. The four love stories were sweet and the characters likeable, even the bootleggers.
