This is, without a doubt, one of the most fascinating books on POWs in WW2 I have ever read. It's wonderfully written by the leader of escapes in Colditz. The men come alive in a wonderful way, and the entire book is a fascinating account. Wonderful story, wonderful book.

What a story!
This was one of the most fascinating books I've ever read about WW II, and I've read quite a few. What an incredible story of indomitable courage, resource, and ingenuity in a series of dramatic escapes from an "escape-proof" castle in Germany.
