With an historical section looking at lettering in ancient and Medieval times. Includes sections on writing, drawing and carving letters. Printed by the noted American printer, D.B. Updike. Calligraphy. Small 4to. cloth. x, 125+(1) pages. First edition, printed by D.B. Updike at his Merrymount Press. Well illustrated. Covers rubbed with lettering on spine hard to read. Ink ownership inscription on front free endpaper.
Great book. I've studied lettering since 1970's and studied with many of the top notch instructors in the world. Many have recommended this book. I purchased a second one to give to my best lettering buddy for her Christmas present in 2010. She loved it and couldn't believe I found one... and in such good condition. Just as it was described.
